This low-lying area adjacent to a River has flooded before, giving it more Food production than a usual Desert tile. If the River floods again structures built on this tile may be damaged or destroyed, but the tile is also likely to gain additional yields.

Floodplains are low-lying areas adjacent to rivers, and prone to flooding each year (or more often) and hence fertile from soil deposits and some of the most productive farmland known. Perhaps the best known are those along the Nile, which helped ancient Egypt become one of history’s greatest civilizations.

Districts cannot normally be built on Floodplains, unless playing as Egypt.
